In the 1980s, Bolivia also began seeking military aid from other countries, such as the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) and China. A group of Bolivian military commanders visited West Germany in late 1985 to examine the role of a professional army in a democratic society. Taiwan endedÍÍÍÍ its aid to the FF.AA. after Bolivia established relations with China in 1985. In the late 1980s, Bolivia expected to reach a series of agreements to receive Chinese military training, arms, and other military equipment.
